The South Plains Shopping Mall is one of West Texas’ highest grossing malls in the United States. This large scale redevelopment focused on the reuse of an abandoned anchor mall tenant. With a massive demolition package, the theater utilizes the entire 40,000 s.f. of the previous anchor’s space as well as an additional 20,000 s.f. of adjacent mall space. The building’s exterior shell structure was salvaged and the new theater building was conceived. This mezzanine-less theater consists of 15 all digital auditoriums and an IMAX auditorium that seats over 400 people. D-Box seating brings a 4D experience to the patrons and a wine and beer lounge was introduced. On the mezzanine level of the IMAX Theater, a VIP lounge overlooks the clerestory space of the main lobby. Premiere is listed among the Top 20 largest theatre circuits in the U.S., and is one of the largest independently-owned circuits in North America. “DVA Architecture captured our vision for converting this former department store and mall space into a state-of-the-art digital multiplex Premiere Cinema.
